Well, another year has already come and gone for us and the 2019 re-ride will soon be complete. We started Sunday afternoon camping at Hicks Ranch with a whole lot of sheep for company. Before dinner, we had the ceremony for new members, the swearing in and taking of the Pony Express oath.  New members included Travis and Suzette Bradshaw,  Loyde Cobb, Kent Lynskey, Jennifer, and Siddy McWilliams,  and Jennifer Trice. After dinner, we had time to sit around the fire and visit, then a few hours of sleep, before, Continue Reading

Jeff Cauhape K7BCV, Sue Cauhape KI7CTT, Justin Nunn KI7CGJ, and Mary Nunn KI7CGI followed the Pony section that went from Cold Springs to Railroad Pass over Basque Summit of the Desatoya Range. Jeff was looking forward to not having to set up camp and a station on some blustery mountaintop. Justin and Mary wanted to learn what was involved in following the Pony so they could participate next year. In this canyon, cell phone as well as radio signals are intermittent. We used the 147.345 repeater in Fallon (thank you, Continue Reading

Sorry no photo yet but, Rex, after his 10 mile lonely stretch across the flats near Carson Lake south of Fallon, NV ( said he was being tracked by some kind of critter), hands the mail off to me at approx 5:15 am. My Arabian mare was anxious to go after being in and around the trailer all night so she tries to go up the pass at a full gallop but needs to take a couple of breathers, the run down to the Geo thermo plant was real fun, Continue Reading

June 23rd, 2018 PDT

Starting at 7:30 in the morning, received the mail 8 minutes early and began the first of three legs to ride on the Sand Springs to Cold Springs Team! What a run it was! Our first leg was 3.5 miles uphill to the top of the pass and handing off to Alina Raabe. Then on to Middlegate Station for another easy 2 mile section. Finally, we took a third leg when another member had some trouble with a horse going down in a trailer. We hear he was shook, but ok on, Continue Reading

A Rookie’s Adventure   June 21, 2018 This was everything I hoped for and so much more!!  Ever since my friend Sally Taylor posted her experience last year on Facebook, I was like “how do I do this!?!”  It took me till March to join the Nevada Division and 3 months later here I am, riding 3 legs of Nevada’s 33.4 mile Section 1: Woodfords, CA to Carson City, NV. Apache, my 11 year-old Southern Nevada mustang, and I carried the mochila for a 2 mile stretch just 4 miles out, Continue Reading
