The 2017 XP Re-Ride in Keith County, Nebraska, went very well.  Late afternoon and early evening thunderstorms threatened to shunt our path off of the gravel roads and onto pavement (not for the horses, of course, but for the trailer rigs) but little rain fell and the Re-Ride trail was navigable the whole 43.5 mile distance.  There was still a light cloud cover, but the 98% moon shown through enough to greatly help us see. The Julesburg Chamber of Commerce held a BBQ at the Visitor Center for the community and the riders of the National Pony Express who will assist n carrying on the tradition of moving the mail horseback from St. Joseph, MO to Sacramento, CA.  They will ride non-stop for 10 days just as they did in 1860.
