Reports from the Trail
2022
FROM: Pam Simmons, NPEA 1st. VP
SENT: June 15th, 2022 | 8:40pm PDT
STATUS: We have been advised that, due to the fire damage to the Pony Express Trail through parts of California, the Pony has had to divert to some "outside the box" tactics. But be assured that the mail and mochila are still on the horse and everyone is fine, but the pinger will not be working until later this evening, around 11:30 pm or so PDT. There are logistics for all of this technology to work properly and this situation has prevented our normal operating procedures from happening. Support personnel will keep us apprised as the details are worked out, with the safety of the horses and riders of paramount importance. The mail will still go through to Sacramento.

Rider Transfer at Fairfield, Utah
FROM: Rulon Swenson
PDT
It was an honor to see and meet some of the participants in the Re-ride event. The photos were taken at the Camp Floyd location in Fairfield UT. It was hot and windy but the riders did their jobs. I want to submit some pictures of the transfer taking place. One is of the arrival of the arriving rider and the other picture is the new rider (white hat) as she leaves on her portion of the ride. Thanks to all who participated in this event. Rulon Swensen, Taylorsville, Utah
