ROCK SPRINGS — This year’s Pony Express Re-Ride is scheduled to pass through Sweetwater County on Monday, June 16, stopping to change riders and horses in Granger in mid-afternoon, the Sweetwater County Historical Museum announced in a special June 10 release.
The first rider will leave Sacramento, California, on June 11, heading east, and the last is scheduled to arrive in St. Joseph, Missouri, on June 21.
The Pony Express route enters Sweetwater County about two miles south of the old Dry Sandy stage station site and runs from there to Little Sandy, Big Sandy, Big Timber, the Lombard Ferry Site across the Green River, and on from there to Granger.
