The Pony Express was a mail delivery service that was established in April of 1860. It was the brainchild of William H. Russell, William B. Waddell and Alexander Majors, the owners of Central Overland California and Pike’s Peak Express Company. The service lasted for little more than a year, but managed to secure a place in American history as one of the vanguards for Westward Expansion.
