CASPER, Wyo. — The annual Pony Express Re-Ride will traverse the Wyoming Division from June 18 to June 21, retracing a stretch of trail that once tested the endurance of riders and horses.

Riders will pass through several Casper-area landmarks, including the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center and Fort Caspar Museum. The route also includes stops at Fort Laramie National Historic Site and Fort Bridger State Historic Site. The locations served as relay points on the western frontier when the Pony Express operated between 1860 and 1861.

The Wyoming stretch of the route was among the most challenging on the nearly 2,000-mile journey, according to the National Pony Express Association. Riders navigated mountains and high plains while maintaining the speed required to deliver mail across the expanding United States. Organizers said the Wyoming Division tells a story of perseverance under some of the toughest conditions on the entire route.
