Missouri Farmer Today — Pony Express Museum shows power of connection

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — On an April day in 1860, the first Pony Express rider left the stables in St. Joseph, rode past cheering crowds, crossed the Missouri River on a ferry, then headed west with the mail in his saddle.

Ten days later, after a relay of riders and horses spanning nearly 2,000 miles, the mail arrived in Sacramento, California, and the public marveled at the speed of the delivery.  Read more..
