We missed the 2nd and Curry St stop, but did catch up to Rider Debra (I think someone told me that was her name) on Curry behind Save Mart. I just finished my second year as a Ride Lieutenant for the National Pony Express Re-Ride. I started in Tahoe at the State Line on Wednesday June 14th at 3:15 (left Placerville at 1:00), rider was coming in at 5:30 (we have to be in place 2 hours ahead when we are in the mountains), followed my different riders down the mountain. Rider Report – Petra Keller – Part 1 Team Jares This year the Pony traveled west, this meant Red & my first leg would be with Team Jares (Railroad Pass > Cold Springs Station, NV). This section starts at Railroad Pass on Hwy 722, crosses the flat to Smith Creek Ranch across the Desatoya’s down to Edwards Creek, onto Hwy 50 and into Cold Springs Station. Night into Day – 3 Riders Cover the Distance

Stephanie Buranzon, Cassidy LeGaux and I leapfrogged the remote 32 mile section between Schurz Highway and Fort Churchill in Nevada. Cassidy started out on Costa riding the first 3 miles after we received the mochilla at 3:15 am, running 15 minutes ahead of schedule. Stephanie on Cruzer then took over the next 3 miles, and I did the next riding Louie. The Mochila with the mail was exchanged behind the St. Charles Hotel at 11:11am today in downtown Carson City, Nevada. Rider Anne Martin & Rider Fred brought the mail in and Rider Debbie left at 11:11am. approximately one hour ahead of schedule. ! AWESOME JOB NEVADA PONY RIDERS AND PONIES!

There was an exchange of Riders and horses here, but it was also an Inn on the road to Virginia City. Tonight it will serve as an International gathering of friends of the Pony Express! Starry night ride in Nevada

Just got home from the reride. It was a fantastic starry night, cool but not cold. I rode two segments, The first from Shoe Tree to Middlegate station. The second from Sand Springs summit to almost Sand Mountain. The first stretch was a short piece on the highway, but followed by two miles of soft field on a quad type track.
