Sunrise in the West Desert of Utah
FROM: Patsy Lange

We had a glimpse of the Moon once in awhile but clouds didn’t let much of it shine through. The coming of dawn and sunrise in the desert was a welcome and beautiful sight. We had 10 cattle guards during the first 1/3 of the ride. Most of them are around the Fish Springs area, some of them were a half a mile to a mile apart. I had the ham radio operator help me with keeping track and opening the gates for the Riders to go around.

Hello, I wanted to send a report from the trail. Here is a link to the Team 2 Utah photos I took, and you are welcome to use them. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1HnUL5w1WcH2wfWjivcNSDxN7mJhKjcSZ?usp=sharing We received the mail at 12:15am, and I was the first rider out, on Hawk, my big appaloosa. My husband, Larry, came along this year, as he enjoys the desert section of the Pony Express trail, so we stocked up on snacks, made up a bed in the back of the Sequoia, brought along Pippin our labrador pup, and two, Continue Reading

Team 2 Utah started out at Murray Park, a few minutes ahead of schedule. Good job, Utah Riders! I was the first rider out, on my wonderful 11year old appaloosa, Blackhawk. It was an honor to see and meet some of the participants in the Re-ride event. The photos were taken at the Camp Floyd location in Fairfield UT. It was hot and windy but the riders did their jobs. I want to submit some pictures of the transfer taking place. One is of the arrival of the arriving rider and the other picture is the new rider (white hat) as she leaves on her portion of the ride. Thanks to all who participated in this event. Rulon Swensen, Taylorsville, Utah
Murray Park to Simpson Springs, UT

I am so proud of my team 2, we all worked together to get the Pony from Murray Park through the City, continuing through Eagle Mountain, on to Fairfield, and starting into the Western Desert to Simpson. We started getting some fairly strong wind around the Eagle mountain area, almost impossible to keep hats on, and if you had a side wind pushing against you and the horse, it slowed ya down a little. The temperature on my truck was reading 96°, most of the way. Everybody still had a, Continue Reading
