Pony Express to deliver Valentine’s Day mail
Pony Express riders in southeast Wyoming are keeping history alive by delivering special mail for Valentine’s Day via horseback on a ride from Guernsey to Hartville.
It’s an opportunity to do something unique for a loved one, said Southeast Wyoming Pony Express President Stephanie Goulart.
“We try to do a unique thing for people,” Goulart said. “It’s nice because Hartville has a cancellation stamp. There’s also the carried-by horseback-stamp, so it makes it unique.”
A cancellation stamp is a special commemorative stamp designed by a local artist. It will depend on what the Hartville post office selects this year.
“It’s been a different design ever year,” Goulart said.
It’s something to hang on to, she added.
