STATUS: The Pony was at Overland Pass at 05:48 hours on 18 June, and running 4 hours and three minutes late.

The riders just do the best they can. We have some riders who don't ride very well and others that are expert riders. We depend on the more experienced riders to try and make up time. Like this morning, the horse became lame at the tom of the mountain and had to be walked down the mountain to the next rider. These things happen and we just try to deal with them as we can. Like I always say, this is not a race, we are doing this to educate the world as to how the men did this back in 1860 and 1861.
