I’M ENCLOSING 28 OF MY PICTURES TAKEN IN UTAH, ON SUNDAY 6/21/15, DURING THIS YEARS NPEA RE-RIDE. MY PHOTOS COVER FROM LOOKOUT PASS TO SIMPSON SPRINGS STATION. ANYONE, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO IDENTIFY THE FOLKS IN THE PIX, AND THEIR EQUINES. I BELIEVE THOSE INVOLVED ARE UTAH TEAMS 2 & 1. SIMPSON SPRINGS WAS A BIT WARM; THE FACTORY THERMOMETER IN MY VEHICLE READ 106 DEGREES (F) AT ONE POINT WHILE I WAS THERE! THE TIMES ON MY CAMERA SHOW THE MOCHILA ARRIVING AT THE WEST BOTTOM OF LOOKOUT PASS, Continue Reading

Dear Pony Express Rider, Member and/or Participant, We have completed another year of carrying the mail through Utah. We handed the mail to the Nevada Division this morning at 3am, and it is half way through Nevada now. It will be delivered in Sacramento sometime tomorrow. We picked the mail up on the Wyoming border at 12:30am on Sunday morning and Team 3 under the leadership of Pat Hearty worked through the night and delivered the mail to Team 2 at Murray Park at 7:30 am. A great job with, Continue Reading
Pretty good run through SLC
FROM: Patsy Lange, NPEA Utah Division
PDT
We had a pretty good run yesterday through SLC, Received the mail about an hour late. We actually was making up time in town, not a lot of traffic, still a little on the cooler side. After we got in the Desert tho, with the temps in 101 range, and the winding blowing; the horses and us starting slowing down a little. During my 2nd run, just starting on the gravel roads, it was windy but still not real hot; it was great. The 3rd ride was at the hottest,, Continue Reading
Western Wyoming riders arrive at the Utah border
FROM: Patrick Hearty, Utah NPEA
PDT
Western Wyoming riders made the Utah border 3 1/4 hours late. It was a cool and perfect night to make up a little time, so the boys and girls (human and equine) put the hammer down. Our first rider was Trever Carpenter, and I left the border change point before he got the mochila, knowing I couldn’t pass him on that road. I got a good head start, and was going about 25 mph, as the road is pretty washboardy. After about a mile, I looked in the rearview, and, Continue Reading

P/E 2014, East Canyon & Henefer, UT My pics with a pocket camera don’t compare to the others you’ve received, but you asked if I would send you mine from this years re-ride. I don’t know any of the riders by name, as I’m just a spectator, but love to watch the riders, horses, and support folks. Maybe the Utah riders & other photographers can help identify those I’ve captured in my pics. I had planned on taking my pics near This Is The Place Heritage Park &, Continue Reading
Thank Lyle and Dean for their support
FROM: Patsy Lange, Former First Lady, Utah NPEA

I want to thank Lyle and Dean for their support, and following up on the entire trail! By now, I know they are getting pretty tired (I can still remember George and I’s trip, of course) and the many memories they will always carry with them! You are doing a great job reporting along the trail, Lyle, and thanks for the pictures, also!!! I also want to thank Sherry Mattingly, my step-daughter for taking pictures of group 2 and posting them. She was scurrying the whole time through traffic,, Continue Reading
As usual our leaders did a great job of planning, keeping things moving has to be like herding cats!
FROM: Beverley Heffernan, Utah Team 2

I am part of Utah’s Team 2 which carried the mail from Murray Park to the Wyoming border, handing off 3 hours ahead of schedule. My first ride was in Emigration Canyon where my horse Luke was swarmed by neighborhood kids, a few of whom were thrilled because they had just learned about the Pony Express in school. I got lots of cheers from bike riders and from a terrace full of diners at a little cafe. As usual our leaders did a great job of planning, keeping things moving, Continue Reading
From East Canyon Reservoir to Broad Hollow with Team #2
FROM: Cindy Furse, Team #2, Utah
PDT
Tesla and me carrying the mail from East Canyon Reservoir to Broad Hollow with Team #2 (Utah) Sunday evening about 730pm. Bit blurry, because we are at a full gallop, but a unique perspective, I think. And a photo after this ride (he is a big, powerful horse still anxious to go), and then a wash down and snack.
Every year jaelynn wished that she could ride, her day finally arrived

For 8 years my grand daughter jaelynn went with me on the re ride. Every year jaelynn wished that she could ride, her day finally arrived. She got to ride with the Utah team from simpson springs to Murray park in salt lake utah. She was even our first rider up. Her horse poncho did her proud. The smile on her face made all the hard work worth it. Our ride from Simpson springs was as close to perfect as it could be. The weather was perfect for the horses., Continue Reading
Murray, Utah
FROM: Sherry Lange-Mattingly, Utah Group 2
PDT
GGroup 2 left Murray, Utah with little incident about 1 hour ahead of schedule and ran extremely well. It was tough to get ahead as I was slotted to be the unofficial photographer for this trip and with traffic, it seemed they were ahead of me a good part of the time. Since Murray to the Wyoming border is the toughest part for Utah as its 90% pavement and mostly uphill, it was surprising how well and quickly it seemed to go. There were a few missteps, but they had, Continue Reading
